“This is a bottle of quite unique Australian wine history. If Rutherglen is the spiritual home of this style of fortified wine, then Chambers must be the big kahuna of the North-East Victoria brethren. Chambers has a history dating back to 1858 and current winemaker/owner Stephen Chambers is the 6th generation of the family to continue the legacy.

This Rare Muscat is produced using a modified solera, which has been in operation since the late 19th Century and was established by W.H. Chambers with base wines dating from the 1890s and 1900.

A deep, developed mahogany in the glass: really old material here. Opulent and heady aromas of raisin, coffee grounds, pudding spice, marzipan, treacle and a complex nutty, rancio lift. Luscious, mouth-filling and multi-dimensional, with lashings of complexity, restrained power and incredible length. Awesome gear. (Screwcap)”
