After a short break in 2024, Rutherglen in the City is back in Melbourne for 2025, better than ever!
We bring the rich heritage, bold flavours, and exciting new varieties of North-East Victoria’s Rutherglen Wine Region to a striking new venue: The Abbotsford Convent.
This year’s event offers a more intimate, elevated wine experience that invites wine lovers - and the wine curious - to sip, swirl, and savour at their own pace. Join 16 of Rutherglen’s top wineries for a day of tasting and discovery. Expect the classics like Durif and world-renowned Muscat, plus a fresh selection of contemporary varieties such as Alvarinho, Fiano, Grenache, Sangiovese, and Tempranillo.
New for 2025 is our “Wine Bar, Wine Chats” experience, where relaxed, pop-up style conversations with winemakers and experts will explore the stories behind the wines, with topics ranging from sustainable viticulture to food pairings and winemaking innovation. It's fun, informative, and at a small cost of $10.
Early bird tickets are $50 and include a premium take-home tasting glass and unlimited tastings across all winery pop-ups, a wine bottle tote bag and a wine showcase map by varietal.
With live music, gourmet food options, and Rutherglen wines available by the glass and bottle to enjoy on-site or take home, Rutherglen in the City Melbourne 2025 is a wine escape not to be missed

On arrival, you’ll be given a Winemakers of Rutherglen tasting glass to keep, which gives you access to wine tastings from our wineries, a wine tote bag, and an opportunity to add on one of our Wine Bar Wine Chat sessions, with limited spaces available you will need to book ASAP.
Enjoy live music, a range of food options for purchase, and discover boutique and rare wines you can't access anywhere else.
Wine available for purchase by the glass, the bottle or to take home.

Within the Convent, book a spot in a relaxed, pop-up style conversation and tasting with winemakers and experts. We will explore the stories behind the wines and topics ranging from sustainable viticulture to food pairings and winemaking innovation. It's fun, informative, and only a small cost of $10.

Step into the world of one of Rutherglen’s most iconic wine styles with Stephen Chambers, 6th Generation Winemaker of Chambers Rosewood Vineyards. In this hands-on session, you’ll taste and explore Muscat at different stages of maturity - from youthful, fresh examples to lusciously aged treasures drawn from the family’s historic cellar.
Then, channel your inner winemaker as Stephen guides you through blending your very own Muscat. Adjust sweetness, balance, and complexity to create a drop that’s uniquely yours. Discover just how much skill (and a little bit of magic) goes into crafting this world-renowned fortified wine. Book on the day.

The Winemakers of Rutherglen invite you to stray into the Dark Side of Wine with more than 30 events over 2 weeks.
When the last of the sun’s rays smoulder over the horizon and the winter moon emerges, the dark arts of Rutherglen will be revealed at the Dark Side of Wine.
This series of immersive experiences is a festival for the curious and the bold. Feel the crisp night air under a star-laden sky as you’re warmed by sensuous wines, crackling fires, stirring music and lively conversation.

Established in 1858 this lovely old winery will welcome you under the historic veranda and gardens overlooking the farm. Live Music, a wine in hand that’s produced, grown and made on site, with aside of country hospitality. Offering sweet, dry or fortified wines. Something to suit every palate.
Feast on egg & bacon rolls, roast beef & gravy rolls, hamburgers and South Melbourne Dim Sims as well as sweet treats. Home made Soups and Coffee Van.
The Winemakers of Rutherglen are now emerging as Victoria’s most progressive artisans for new style Muscats, gins, Fianos, Malbecs, aperitifs, Iberian wines and more. The June long weekend festival is certainly one not to be missed.
PARTICIPATING RUTHERGLEN WINERIES
The full festival program features premium tastings, live entertainment, and unique sensory cellar door experiences from 16 of our region’s wineries.
Festival Lovers ticket includes two days of Festival entry for only $65 (early bird pricing). Demonstrating exceptional value, the price also includes a branded wine glass, tastings at participating wineries , a food voucher to be spent at any of the participating wineries and non-alcoholic offerings.
Our continuous hop-on, hop-off bus loop give all patrons an opportunity to explore all participating wineries through out the weekend. With more than 40 buses operating and driving in both directions, this format allows ‘roamers’ to taste the region in your own time, your own way. Jump on any Festival Shuttle Bus and it will get you where you need to go.
For those travelling from elsewhere in the region, regional bus services will run from Corowa, Howlong, Yarrawonga, Mulwala, Bundalong, Wangaratta, Chiltern, Beechworth, Albury and Wodonga.
